Republican Representative Joe Wilson from South Carolina has revealed his intention to propose a new $250 bill showcasing President Donald Trump. In a recent statement on X, Wilson shared, “I’m honored to be working on legislation that will instruct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to create a $250 bill with Donald J. Trump’s image. Bidenflation has wrecked our economy, leaving families needing to carry more money. It’s only fitting to have the most valuable bill honor the most valuable president!”

U.S. law currently stipulates that only deceased individuals can be featured on currency and securities. Wilson, a veteran of over 20 years in the House, isn’t alone among GOP lawmakers in seeking to commemorate Trump. Just last month, Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida introduced a plan to have Trump’s likeness carved into Mount Rushmore. Her proposal states, “The Secretary of the Interior, through the National Park Service Director, shall oversee the addition of President Donald J. Trump’s figure to Mount Rushmore National Memorial.”

Mount Rushmore currently displays the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. In a press release, Luna explained, “President Trump’s fearless leadership and unwavering commitment to America’s prosperity have earned him a permanent place in our nation’s story. Mount Rushmore stands as an enduring tribute to our country’s liberty and resilience, and it should reflect his monumental legacy—especially now, with his second term off to a remarkable start. He’ll stand alongside giants like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt in history forever.”
